NextGen Education Monthly Contest Writing Taskforce: October 2021

Members of the October writing taskforce team will each write an essay for a national contest in these 2 categories: "Voice of Democracy-America: Where do we go from here?" (Grades 9-12) and "Patriots' Pen: How can I be a good American?" (Grades 6-8). Winners get a scholarship of $1000-$30,000.

About the Event
Online class: We will have an 1-hour group writing workshop via zoom on Oct 19, 2021. Students will reflect on the essay themes, analyze winning essays from previous years, learn writing techniques and develop an outline/draft for their esssay. Class size is 10 kids (Will have a second teacher if more than 10).
Revision: Students can choose to take 1-on-1 private lesson(s) or small group lessons with our teachers. They may also choose to only receive individualized written feedback. They will send finished essays to our teachers by Oct 24, 2021; and receive individualized feedback on all aspects of their writings by Oct 26, 2021.
Our teachers are published authors and university teachers graduated from/teach at Harvard, UC Berkeley and UT Austin. After you register, we'll send you a link to the zoom class. We'll also provide a link to submit the student essay for written feedback and a link to the teacher calendars for private and small group lesson(s).
Deadline for essay submission to the national contest is Oct 31, 2021. Limited space. Please sign up now to secure your spot! *Students will improve their writings and critical thinking skills even if they choose not to attend the national contest. **Since the lesson is only $10 and the website charges $1 for each transaction, it is non-refundable.
